A Step-By-Step Guide To

Connect Your Fitness Device with JEFF

This guide is to help you sync your Fitness Device with the JEFF App so your daily movement is automatically added to your Movement Log & Step Tracker in the App.

JEFF collects your data from different sources depending on your mobile device make:

Health Connect (Android)
or Apple Health (iOS)

Please browse the syncing guides below to get your fitness device setup and talking to the JEFF App.

Have an iPhone?

Here are the steps on how to connect Apple Health (iOS) to JEFF

1. Make sure you have Apple Health downloaded and installed on your device and that your smartwatch syncs to it.

2. Sign in and open your JEFF App, click on the burger menu (top right hand corner), click Device Connection.

3. You will be asked to allow Apple Health to share your information with JEFF. Select “Turn All On” in order to allow device integration.

Once you have allowed Apple Health to share your health data with us - if you have a fitness device such as a Garmin or Suunto, you will further be required to allow Apple Health and your watch app to share information.

Here are the steps to follow when allowing Apple Health & your own fitness device to sync:

1. Navigate to your Apple Health App

2. From the “Summary” page - Click on “Show All Health Data”

3. Next you will see all your activities and workouts, select any activity - good example is “Active Energy”

4. Scroll all the way to the bottom until you reach the heading “Options” and see the button “Data Sources & Access”. Scroll to the bottom of the page and there will be a list of data sources - this can be your actual iPhone and your Garmin Connect App / Suunto (depending which device you use) listed in order in which Apple Health deems priority. They will automatically have iPhone as the priority source - however if you use your watch as your tracking device then you want to move your fitness device to the top.

5. Select “edit” on the top right.

6. Drag “Garmin Connect” to the top by clicking the 3 horizontal stripes and click done. Please ensure you have done the above for all categories such as active energy, resting energy, steps and workouts.

Please note: this should be your troubleshooting steps should your data not be pulling through to the JEFF App.We rely solely on Apple Health & your fitness device App communicating with each other in order for activities to display in the JEFF App.

Have an Android Phone?

Here are the steps on how to connect Health Connect & Health Sync (Android) to JEFF

1. Make sure you have your health app (Samsung Health) downloaded and installed on your device and that your smartwatch syncs to it.

2. Sign in and open your JEFF App, click on the burger menu (top right hand corner), click Device Connection.

NOTE: this app will not download like a normal app on your phone so don't worry if you can't find it on any of your screens.

5. Once downloaded click on ‘Install” and "Get Started"

6. Tap on App Permissions and then on JEFF & select "Allow All"

7. Go back to the JEFF App, and a screen will pop up asking “Allow JEFF to access your physical Activity”, click "Allow"

8. On the screen that says “Allow JEFF to access this devices location”, click "While using this app"

9. For most Fitness Devices you will need to download an additional app called Health Sync, you can do this by tapping on the shortcut on Device Connection page in the JEFF App

10. Install the Health Sync app and follow all the on screen prompts

11. Select the app source ie. Garmin or Samsung Health or whatever you are using

12. Select the destination Health Connect

13. Then continue to follow all the on screen prompts to allow syncing permissions. This will include a “Declaration of Consent” and Initializing Device connection.

14. Once Initialization is complete you can select the data you would like to sync ie. your Steps & Activities.

15. Your Device should now be linked to Health Sync which is connected to Health Connect that talks to the JEFF App.

16. If you go back to the JEFF App, you will now see a green dot and "CONNECTED" status above the sync button, as well as when last your device synced with the App.

Still not working?

Here are the steps on how to troubleshoot your Fitness Device connection

1. Check that your fitness device has successfully synchronised with it's app on your phone (Garmin, Samsung Health, Fitbit).

2. If your fitness device is syncing to it's app and there is still an issue: For iOS: Check your Apple Health App to see if your data has pulled through from your fitness device. For Android: Check when last your Health Sync App has synced.

3. If all of the above is syncing correctly the data should pull through to the JEFF App. Remember - this may take a few minutes!
